Dr John Newell

Dr Newell has been involved in the greyhound industry for 42 years. During this time he has been involved in racetrack practice, all aspects of greyhound medicine and surgery as well as frozen semen breeding management which has provided so many options to breeders.
John has spoken at many Greyhound Sports Medicine conferences including the North American Veterinary Conference - Florida, International Working Dog Congress-Belgium and the World Greyhound Racing Federation Conferences in Cork and Miami as well as many Australian Greyhound Veterinary Association Conferences over the years.
He currently provides Veterinary services to trainers from Grafton to Wagga and west to Dubbo on a regular basis. He maintains his enthusiasm for trainer education and assistance for the Health, Welfare and Soundness of the racing and retired greyhound.

Dr. Chris Papantonio BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS (Surgery)

Dr. Chris Papantonio BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS (Surgery) graduated from Sydney University in 2005 and partnered in his first practice, Colyton Veterinary Hospital, by 2008. Since then he has developed Colyton Veterinary Hospital with his team to what it is today. He continually undertakes study to further himself in veterinary science and has completed his postgraduate exams in surgery, becoming a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2017. Chris has recently completed an Advanced Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery with the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies. For this course, Chris was required to undergo training with specialist surgeons in different parts of Europe and complete a series of case reports and finally an exam. Chris has also completed a number of short courses in Australia, the UK, and Europe on Advanced Orthopaedics, Arthroscopy, Endoscopy, Laparoscopic Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Hip Surgery, and Computed Tomography (CT). He has special interests in advanced surgery including soft tissue, orthopaedics, reconstructive, and minimally invasive surgery, as well as canine sports and reproductive medicine.

Dr. Warwick Vale BSc BVMS (Hons II), Fellow AVA

Dr. Warwick Vale is an experienced equine practitioner who has practised in the Northern Suburbs of Perth for over 30 years. He has held numerous positions on the Equine Veterinarians Australia executive, including President, and during this time was involved in issues such as Hendra, Equine Influenza, Racing Licensing and governance change. He is an ex-Chairman and Director of Equestrian Australia and has a high profile in the Australian veterinary profession and the international/national equestrian sporting communities. This has been gained from extensive high-level service to the profession through the Australian Veterinary Association and active contribution to equestrian sport governance and officiating over decades. He currently owns and manages a five vet equine hospital and has previously owned mixed and small animal based practices. Warwick is an AVA Fellow and seen as an industry leader, educator, mentor, innovator and statesperson.
